Process :

I don’t really have a standard process. Sometimes I start sketching without actually having a concept I want to work out. Or I just let myself be guided by a particular thought or feeling. Sometimes I’m inspired by other things such as pictures I see online or in magazines, a particular line or gesture delivered by a character in a movie, articles and books, nature or sometimes random objects I encounter throughout the day. I always try to have a sketchbook or a notebook with me whenever I go out. I also take pictures with my phone (I’m saving for a camera) so I can look at it later. As I think about these bits and pieces of information I've gathered, I start imagining shapes and sketching them. I don’t like to work on only one thing at the time but I also don’t like to have too much on my plate, so I sometimes find myself going from one piece to another. That’s how I take distance from a particular piece. I find that putting some distance (figuratively and/or literally) helps me see what is missing in the piece. I also like to ask for opinions, preferably from someone who I’m not very close to. That way I know that they are being honest.
